Bienvenue and thanks for logging on! I'm very excited to be your child's Grade 2/3 teacher this year!
This website will help you become better familiarized with the teaching program that I use in my class. It also provides your child with learning resources to practice numeracy and literacy concepts in the classroom (in centres), and at home.
Let me breakdown the website and explain the layout that I've chosen:
SUBJECTS provides you with most of the subjects that I teach your child. Within each subject, I have shared and will continue to share helpful websites that your child can use at home and at school.
The Literacy and Math Framework sections provide you with a detailed description of the literacy and math framework that I use in class during our literacy and math blocks. I've included a few videos that describe the DAILY FIVE, CAFE, and COMMUNITY OF LEARNERS to familiarize you with these programs. The PARENT PIPELINES is a subcategory of DAILY FIVE AND CAFÉ; these "pipelines" provide you with documents describing each of the reading strategies we will visit throughout the year and tips on how you can help your child at home.
The Classroom Website and ePortfolio section describes how to login what the website contains. In the next couple of weeks, I will be introducing a classroom blog, and student ePortfolios through the Campbell River District website. On this private website, you will be able to see pictures and updates of your child's school endeavours and his or her individual learning progress. As soon as I activate this classroom website, I'll be sending you instructions and a student login and password on how to access the website and e-portfolios.
Furthermore, I included section on outdoor learning and the self-regulation programs I will be using throughout the year.
If you have any suggestions please let me know and I will try my best to incorporate them into our websites.
Thank you for visiting Madame Johnstone's website and I look forward to working with you.
Sincerely,
Melissa Johnstone
